Sane Guruji
May India be mighty and strong, and shine glorious before the world.
बलसागर भारत होवो, विश्वात शोभुनी राहो
Pandurang Sadashiv Sane, popularly known as Sane Guruji (1899–1950), was a teacher, freedom fighter, writer and social reformer who devoted his life to the pursuit of equality, social justice and human dignity. Deeply influenced by Gandhian values, he worked among farmers, workers and marginalized communities and strongly opposed caste discrimination and untouchability. His historic campaign for opening the Vitthal Temple at Pandharpur to Dalits reflected his firm belief that equality must be practiced in everyday life.
Sane Guruji believed that education, compassion and social awareness were powerful instruments for creating an inclusive society. Through his writings, teaching and social activism, he sought to bring people together across caste, religion, language and social divisions. His ideals of equality, dignity and inclusion continue to resonate with Samarthan’s commitment to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and promoting a more just and equitable society.
